This tool is simple and flexible, allowing me to customize it to any event that I deem important for my startup. Another advice is to not create process where there should not be one, "communication over process" is a good reminder. Finally, if it's not tracked, you can't ship it. It's okay if the element you're tracking is not actively being analyzed. But a day will come when you will need that old metric to answer a very specific question, and you will be very happy to have access to the data history even if you've never used it before.
